In the oval Gilded Grille 22 frame, the work moves into a different kind of balance. Where the round form resolves through rotation and continuity, the oval introduces a more elastic condition, extending along one axis while compressing along the other. As we worked through the design, that shifting geometry became central. The longer sweep of the form established a different rhythm, one that required each interval to be reconsidered in relation to the whole. The pattern could not rely on repetition alone; it had to remain responsive to the changing curve, maintaining continuity while adapting to variation in length and tension.

The pierced passages brought that problem into sharper focus. Each opening needed to retain structural integrity while preserving the visual lightness of the frame, requiring careful control of spacing, connection, and proportion across the entire network. The finished frame carries a sense of calm that comes from that resolution, where movement remains present but is held within a measured structure. In that sense, the oval edition became one of the most refined and satisfying developments in the series.
